Celtic Games

What a gorgeous week! After snow in the high country this weekend and just a dusting in the Village, it’s a fabulous time to be in the mountains. The leaves are turning colors; the air is cool and crisp. The time to hike is now!

The Celtic Games are in Snowmass Village on Saturday, September 23rd. The Celtic Games celebrate centuries-old sports such as throwing a 16 foot log end over end, shot putting a 28 pound rock, pitch forking heavy burlap bags over a high jump bar, and tossing a 56# metal weight as far as you can like a discus thrower–all in one day.
Celtic vendors, wares and food, dancing and music, and Clans providing information on Celtic heritage throughout the day. Don’t miss this unique event!

Base Village is moving along nicely. They say they are on time and the gondola will be up and running by the winter ski season. While there is still a lot to do till then, ski season is just 65 days away!

Hot Air Balloon Festival

Fall is in the air! The leaves are turning colors and this weekend is the 31st Hot Air Balloon Festival in Snowmass. It’s a wonderful event, relaxing, breathing, calming, and will get you out of bed early on a weekend morning. On Saturday & Sunday, the event takes place at the Rodeo Grounds/Golf Course. It’s going to be cold, so dress very warm if you head out to see the balloons. They’ll be selling coffee & hot chocolate down there so bring some cash for your favorite beverage.

On Saturday afternoon, stop by the Snowmass Mall for a wonderful wine & food tasting sponsored by the Snowmass Rotary Club.

At the Chalet, we are busy with the remodel of the guest rooms. Today they are re-carpeting the hallways. Our winter guests are going to enjoy the upgrades!
