More Snow in Aspen/Snowmass Colorado!

What a beautiful snowy day in Aspen and Snowmass Village, Colorado! The snow is very dry so it’s fluffy and you can blow it right off your car - no need for a snow scraper today. The forecasters are calling for additional snow tonight and tomorrow. The schools in Basalt and Carbondale were cancelled today due to the snow but in Aspen and Snowmass, where there is an abundance of snow removal equipment, the kids had to go. To the disappointment to all our school children, rarely does a storm cancel school in Aspen and Snowmass!

We are so excited about our staff at the Snowmass Mountain Chalet this year. They are truly a wonderful group. We look forward to getting to know our new employees better and look forward to a fun and enjoyable ski season!

More snow to the Colorado Rockies!

What a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! The skiers and boarders enjoyed 15-inches of new snow! There is now a 36-inch snow base in Snowmass! Today the sun was bright, the skiing was fabulous and the slopes wide open. The weather forecasters are calling for more snow tomorrow!

Many of our guests checked out on Saturday and Sunday. A new wave of people starts arriving on Friday. Each year we welcome back the Ole’ Ski Club and Bodacious Airline Group the first week of December. They have all become family and we are looking forward to seeing them again this year.

It's a Beautiful Day in the Colorado Ski Resorts!

It’s a beautiful sunny day in Snowmass Village, Colorado! The day after Thanksgiving, everyone is anxious to hit the ski slopes and wear off last night’s dinner. While most of the US is taking advantage of those exciting “after Thanksgiving shopping special”, we are out on the slopes with our skis and snowboards enjoying the glorious day.

We had a wonderful evening at the Snowmass Mountain Chalet with the full Thanksgiving Feast served in our Dining Room. Apple and pumpkin pie was served in the lobby around the roaring fire.

We have so much to be thankful for this year. First at the hotel, we are thankful for our wonderful and caring staff and the guests that make our job so rewarding each year. I personally am thankful for my loving husband and daughters. They let me postpone Thanksgiving dinner with them each year, so I can help at the hotel. Tonight I will celebrate with them. We are thankful for this beautiful and peaceful place, we call home in Snowmass Village, Colorado. We are thankful for those fighting for our freedom. In a resort, it’s hard to imagine what our troops are dealing with on a daily basis.

Snow is in the forecast for the next 7-days which is music to our ears! How we love a good snowstorm. In a ski resort, a snowstorm may slow people down, but it never stops them. Roads are cleared quickly and we go on as normal. Most ski resorts have more snow removal equipment than most large cities.

Wishing you a wonderful Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Ski Slopes of Aspen and Snowmass Colorado!

Happy Thanksgiving from Aspen/Snowmass!

The ski slopes are open in Snowmass Village! We are busy cooking the turkeys for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Our guests were out on the ski slopes early this morning for first tracks. It’s going to be a beautiful and sunny day, perfect for skiing and boarding. The forecast is calling for snow on Saturday or Sunday.

We have finished the re-roofing project at the Snowmass Mountain Chalet. The staff is now completely hired. Most of our employees have worked here many years, but you’ll see a few new faces. Our new Housekeeping Manager is Kristen Cushman. She has lived in the Valley for many years and worked for several lodges and private homes. We are thrilled to have her on our team. She has added several new housekeepers. We also have a new bellman/maintenance person. At the front desk, Doni, Annette and Chris are all returning.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Colorado Ski Resorts in Aspen/Snowmass open

Aspen Mountain and Snowmass Mountain open for skiing tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day. The new lift is Snowmass - the six-pack Village Express is ready to go. Skiing should be wonderful! The Snowmass Mountain Chalet openned yesterday for the season. Once again we will be serving our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. We are excited to see all of our guests!

There is a good snow base. The evenings have been cold enough to make snow. Aspen has a variety of activities this weekend. On Friday in Snowmass you can enjoy the comedy acts of Jeff Wozer and Lori Callahan.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
